RE: urine test

Who's going to intervene when a mother of four gets a false positive and suddenly can't feed her family? Will there be monitoring to prevent racial disparities in who is subjected to testing? How will any of this address the far larger problem of alcohol abuse? If our society is going to offer public assistance to those in need, we cannot afford to shape such programs around a urinalysis. When it works, drug testing tells you whether someone has used drugs. It doesn't tell you if they need treatment or whether their welfare check is being put to legitimate use. When drug testing doesn't work, it falsely accuses innocent people and subjects them to undeserved sanctions and stigma.

RE: Hurricane Gustav: watch out along Gulf coast!

I would suggest that if you are 175 miles east or west of New Orleans, that you get out today. Go to relatives or friends with your camper at least 300 miles inland. Make sure where you are going inland is not near any rivers, and is not in lowland, prone to flooding. Will report back with more info tomorrow... S- Doesn't anyone find it annoying that a Canadian weather buff is advising an immediate evacuation of the gulf coast ?:h

oak would be very heavy, treated wood would also be heavy with the added benefit of carcinogens.

RE: May have a contract on our house UPDATE!

We sold our house three times this year, the third was a charm, it was VA, federally insured. The irony of it is VA is no money down !! We had to jump through a few more hoops as the sellers but got full price.

RE: What the heck is Ecotourism?

Ecological Tourism The Ecotourism Society defines ecotourism as “purposeful travel to natural areas to understand the culture and natural history of the environment, taking care not to alter the integrity of the ecosystem while producing economic opportunities that make the conservation of natural resources beneficial to local people.” According to the Stanford Research Institute (1990), the ecology-minded tourist represents the fastest growing segment of the worldwide travel industry, increasing at an annual rate of 30 percent. The economy is no longer driven by desire to accumulate goods, but by the quest for vivid experience. — SRI International Report Ecotourism Planning and Management Certificate Program International Ecotourism Society

RE: My nightmare with Callen Campers

It sounds like a resolution is in the works. If this thread had been about Lance or (gasp!) Snow River it would have been zapped long ago !! This is an untrue post. The Rule- # Posts are not allowed in which a local or state consumer action board and/or legal counsel is/have been involved. This includes posts related to future, ongoing or past lawsuits.

RE: My nightmare with Callen Campers

What say you folks, should I give them a chance to build the thing? Would that be taking the high road on my part, would you consider doing it? Or is it just insane on my part to consider it? Last night I declined Tammys offer of completing the shell, but after stewing on it overnight, it sounds tempting... That would probably meet the clinical definition of insanity :h

RE: I saved at least $13K doing my own roof.........

How did you save $13k on a 20 square roof? That seems a bit inflated. What were they installed, a $1000 a square ?
